Comments:
An orienteering training camp in the greater Boston area, devoted to the art of sprinting. Eight events over four days, culminating in prologue/chase sprint! Register here: https://www.orienteeringusa.org/eventregister/a40/register/start/bsc2017Schedule:
- Thursday AM: North Point Park, Cambridge. Introductions, basic trainings, longer sprint trainingsThursday PM: Pine Banks Park, Medford. Park race! Format may be chase start, I'm still working on that.Friday AM/PM: Franklin Park, all day! Training exercises and theoretical exercises in the morning, one-man relay or other head-to-head relay practice in the afternoon. Opportunities to visit the zoo during lunch! Thursday is the Scooper Bowl (google it), which means tons and tons of ice cream. Excellent lunchtime activity, though good luck running fast that evening after eating your weight in ice cream. http://www.scooperbowl.org/faf/home/default.asp…Thursday's events will also be near the northern terminus of the Boston Freedom Trail, for you history buffs who want to do a little exploring. We'll have a good long break between lunch and the next training, so take your time. https://www.thefreedomtrail.orgSaturday AM: Boston Common. Training courses and short sprints on two different maps. Saturday PM: Moakley Park, Boston. Sprint relay! Partner assignments tbd... open to suggestions :)Sunday AM/PM: Minuteman National Historical Park, Concord. Knock-out sprint race! This is the only one not on public transit (that bus doesn't run on Sundays), and because it is a little further away and there is limited parking, we are going to try and coordinate carpooling. Sunday will start around 9, and will feature a knock-out sprint, which will take most of the day. I expect that Sunday we should be wrapping up by 3-4pm, to get you all on the road.
