and volunteer fire station on the corner there, the intersection is very obvious].

The Short Motala consists of three different loops (W, Y and O level), the Long has an additional fourth loop, which will involve some street-O. The Motalas may be done in the traditional way, as a solo effort, but we will also be encouraging teams of three or four, each person doing one of the loops. "Special Rule" for teams. Each team must have at least one beginner type person to do the easy loop. Newcomers be forewarned: You will be much in demand! J Junior Teams, (12 & under), will have two people, doing either a White or Yellow Course. All members in a team will start their respective loops at the same time. Directions:
From I-93, take exit 20. Go north about 7 miles on Rt 3, then Rt 11A to downtown Laconia.
At the light, go left onto Main St/Rt 106 (Landmark Inn will be on your left).
Follow Main St/Rt 106 north 2.4 miles, turn left into the entrance to the Laconia State Prison.
Take an immediate left onto the dirt road at the Ahern State Park sign.
From the seasoast area, take Rt 11 north past the Laconia Airport, then Business Rt 3 towards downtown Laconia. At the light at Lakeport Square (Fratello's Restaurant on your left) take a right onto Elm St. Go 1.7 miles to the light, turn left onto Parade Road/Rt 106 south. This is a great "introduce a friend or relative to orienteering" event. Instruction will be available for new comers.
Drawings will be held through out the event for prizes for participants in the beginner courses. Five compasses and 10 free event registration passes will be awarded. There is a $2 parking fee (feed dollars into the machine and get a ticket for your windshield.) Directions:
Take I-95/128, Exit 31B to Rts. 4/225 W. Go 7.1 miles on Rt. 225 to the traffic circle in Carlisle Center. Go right on Lowell Rd. (follow sign marked Chelmsford 5 miles) for 1.8 miles to parking lot on right. Watch for orienteering signs.
