October 15, 2006 Event Director: Bob LaFlamme Sixty people came to Wells State Park on a perfect day for orienteering. Some experienced NEOC members came from the East and competed on the B Relay course from the A event in April. This course was made more challenging by two controls being placed on the wrong feature. My apologies to those whose times were affected. Most of our participants were from the local area and who had little experience with orienteering. It is my hope to attract more members from the local area and my plan is to hold an event at Wells annually. I would appreciate help from current NEOC members who live in the Central Mass area. Please send email to me (send mail to Bob). My thanks go to: Paul and Susan Pearson for their help with registration, instruction, and picking up the orange course, my wife Susan and her friend Nancy Dedeian for working the registration and start/finish, Brian Jurkowski and the Wells State Park Staff for their help, Brookfield Orchards of North Brookfield for donating the delicious Macoun and Mutsu apples and cider, Betty Wuelfing and the Friends of the Haston Public Library for the delicious pumpkin soup, and Joanne Sankus and Liz Kotowski for bringing out the maps and equipment.
