Sixty hearty souls found their way to Rocky Woods in Medfield for this late addition to the Spring O schedule. The weather was perfect, which proved fortuitous as a challenging array of courses ensured an extended time in the woods for the vast majority of competitors. Novice course setter Jeff Schapiro apologizes to those participants with time constraints or a limited tolerance for frustration, but hopes that there were many competitors who appreciated the opportunity to negotiate a technically difficult course without extensive travel. It was somewhat comforting to note that the stalwart but inexperienced orienteer who completed the Green course after an impressive 393 minutes appeared quite happy with his experience upon exiting the woods.

Plans are already in the works to host another event at this site next Spring. Your thick-skinned course setter gratefully solicits any general or specific comments on the course selection or timing of the event in order to ensure an optimal experience in the future. Profuse gratitude is extended to Donn Springer for his assistance and guidance in setting the courses, the entire Saeger clan for providing the manpower and experience to salvage a late and hectic start, and Barb Bryant and J-J Cote for their invaluable help in collecting the controls at the end of a long day. I would also like to thank Ken Menzies, Valerie Murray, Joe Lantis, and Jonathan Rosenfield (I believe) for lending an impromptu hand late in the event. Finally, I would like to reiterate my extreme appreciation for the efforts of my father and sister who stepped in like
experienced veterans to register early competitors who assembled while I was still in the woods setting the last few controls for the White and Yellow courses.
