The disappointment of a relatively low turnout was assuaged by the presence of some enthusiastic newcomers to orienteering, including P.E. teachers from a local high school where orienteering is being introduced as part of the curriculum, and some veteran orienteers new to NEOC.. In accordance with NEOC-RI's new policy, String-O equipment , maps, and assistance in setting were available, but no participants arrived to utilize it.
