Although rain was threatened, the O' gods prevailed and it was a good day for running in the woods. At 11am about 30 beginners came to the workshops to learn about orienteering from Joanne Sankus and Samantha Saeger. Then, at noon, while they fueled up on food provided by Roche Bros and prepared by chef Jay Walsh, the sprint competitors went off at 30 second intervals. Within minutes they were back at the beach at the 1st spectator control, rhen out for another loop, then back for another spectator control.

Through the generosity of EMS prizes ($30, $15, water bottle)were awarded for first and third places in the Men and Women divisions.

After the sprint race. Beginner and experienced orienteerers went out on the other courses. Again prizes were awarded for the first three places on each course.

Many thanks to the staff of Hale Reservation for the idea and many hours of time volunteered to promote orienteering and raise money for a good cause.
