Once again the weather held out for a fine day of orienteering at Gay City State Park. Although it was windy & overcast, the rain held off and the cooler temperatures were appreciated by the more competitive orienteers. This fall we used leftover day one maps from the Troll Cup held here in 1998. Charlie DeWeese and Curley Perzel, I am told, designed those courses. Although the course design aspect of the planning was eliminated, there was the last minute problem of miss-numbered course descriptions, which slowed down the registration process just a bit. Many thanks to those who donned pens for the cause.

On the flip side, most of the maps distributed had the courses already printed on them. The only other problem reported was two groups that it seems were traveling too close to each other and were not enjoying each other's company. As usual I had a lot of help and the events of the day flowed very smoothly. In all, about 145 people scampered around the woods of Glastonbury, Hebron & Bolton. And best of all, none of the controls disappeared!
