Diamond Hill

Diamond Hill
Cumberland, RI

Karl Stephens, Event Director

First, I would like to thank the volunteers who were just starting out on a search operation for a young girl when, thankfully, she appeared. I apologize for not recording names, but please pat yourselves on the back. It was greatly appreciated, believe me.

Another special thanks to Mike Smith , who came and ran Registration, even though he was unable to participate himself.

"Steady Ed" Bailey ran S/F, aided by Sture Karlsson.

Terry Keegan was "first man off the bench" in all areas. More importantly, besides vetting he firmly "advised" me to make changes in the upper level courses that improved them greatly.

Finally, I just learned orienteerers have a new excuse for errors when they "O" at Diamond Hill. While there are no diamonds at Diamond Hill, there is plenty of Cumberlandite , the "Official RI State Rock", found only in the area we use. Looking up info to tell my grandson about it, I found it has some magnetic properties !
