The 2007 New England Canoe-O Championships were held on a new map of Lake Cochituate State Park in Natick, Framingham, and Wayland, Massachusetts. There are four interconnected lakes with an inactive railroad line touching them all. 18 teams competed on an 18-control score-o course. In addition to overall champions with the most controls punched in under two hours, winners were also declared in the 60 and 90 minute categories.

Competition was tight with four teams punching all 18. Three did it cleanly but one team was so late they ended up with a negative 3 points. John Hansman did the full 18 alone in a kayak, ran to most of the northern controls and surprised us all with a 1:55:24. Steve and Seth Miller were back next, posting a sizzling 1:44:27. It looked like they had the win sewed up but, J-J Cote' and Andy Hall did everything right and posted the shortest time, over 15 minutes faster than the Millers and thus both qualifying for the 90 minute score-o category and nabbing the overall win.

A number of people were shooting for the 90 minute score-o but were overtime and ended up in the 120 minute category.

Congratulations to newcomer Helene Madison who found 7 controls and had a wonderful time.
