Suburban Orienteering - Score-O format
Registration from 9:00 - 9:30.  Start at 10:00
Five divisions:
1 1/2 hr or 3 hr on foot or on bike plus the Wanderings Combo: 3 hr on bike and 1 1/2 hr on foot
Map 1:25,000 of Belmont and parts of Arlington, Cambridge, Lexington, Waltham, and Watertown
Same map as last year but shifted north to include parts of Arlington and Lexington north of Route 2.

This is a good way to start the fall orienteering season by getting a good workout while avoiding the thick summer vegetation and mosquitos in the woods. There are plenty of challenging hills, and a few controls will be on trails in various parks and woods. Navigation is obviously easier than running in the woods, but route planning will be key to a good score. If you enjoy cycling, this is a great event to try on your bike.

There are 55 controls this year, optimal route to visit all of them is about 50 miles with 1100 meters climb. The start/finish area will be by the ball fields behind Winn-Brook School on Sherman St. in Belmont . Please come early; several people last year missed the mass start.
